Air compressors are indispensable equipment in the production process. This article sorts out the key points for acceptance and use of air compressors through the user’s receipt stage, startup precautions, maintenance and other aspects.
01 Receiving stage
Confirm that the air compressor unit is in good condition and complete with complete information, no bumps on the appearance, and no scratches on the sheet metal. The nameplate model is consistent with the order requirements (gas volume, pressure, unit model, unit voltage, frequency, whether the special requirements of the order are consistent with the contract requirements).
The internal components of the unit are installed firmly and intact, without any parts falling off or loose pipes. The oil level of the oil and gas barrel is at the normal oil level. There is no oil stain inside the unit (to prevent loose transportation components from leaking oil).
The random information is complete (instructions, certificates, pressure vessel certificates, etc.).
02 Pre-startup guidance
The room layout requirements should be consistent with the pre-sales technical communication (see Note 1 for details). The installation sequence of post-processing equipment should be correct (see Note 2 for details), and the customer’s transformer, circuit breaker, and cable selection should meet the requirements (see Note 3 for details). Does the thickness and length of the pipeline affect the pressure at the customer’s gas end (pressure loss problem)?
03 Precautions for starting up
1. Startup
The rear pipeline is fully opened, the customer’s cable is installed and locked intact, and the inspection is correct and not loose. Power on, no phase sequence error prompt. If the phase sequence error prompts, swap any two cables in the customer’s cable.
Press the start button, immediately make an emergency stop, and confirm the direction of the compressor host (the direction of the host needs to be determined by the direction arrow on the head, and the direction arrow cast on the head is the only direction standard), the direction of the cooling fan, the direction of the auxiliary cooling fan on the top of the inverter (some models have it), and the direction of the oil pump (some models have it). Ensure that the directions of the above components are correct.
If the power frequency machine encounters difficulty in starting in winter (mainly manifested by high viscosity of lubricating oil, which cannot quickly enter the machine head during startup, resulting in high exhaust temperature alarm and shutdown), the method of jog start and immediate emergency stop is often used to repeat the operation 3 to 4 times to allow the screw oil to rise quickly.
If all the above are handled, the unit will start and work normally by jogging the start button.
2. Normal operation
During normal operation, check that the working current and exhaust temperature should be within the normal set value range. If they exceed the standard, the unit will alarm.
3. Shutdown
When shutting down, please press the stop button, the unit will automatically enter the shutdown process, automatically unload and then delay shutdown. Do not shut down by pressing the emergency stop button without an emergency, as this operation may cause problems such as oil spraying from the machine head. If the machine is shut down for a long time, please close the ball valve and drain the condensate.
04 Maintenance method
1. Check the air filter element
Take out the filter element regularly for cleaning. When its function cannot be restored by cleaning, the filter element must be replaced. It is recommended to clean the filter element when the machine is shut down. If conditions limit, the filter element must be cleaned when the machine is turned on. If the unit does not have a safety filter element, be sure to prevent debris such as plastic bags from being sucked into the air compressor head, causing damage to the head.
For machines using inner and outer double-layer air filters, only the outer filter element can be cleaned. The inner filter element can only be replaced regularly and must not be removed for cleaning. In the event that the filter element is blocked or has holes or cracks, dust will enter the interior of the compressor and accelerate the friction of the contact parts. In order to ensure that the life of the compressor is not affected, please check and clean it regularly.
2. Replacement of oil filter, oil separator and oil products
Some models have a pressure difference indicator. When the air filter, oil filter and oil separator reach the pressure difference, an alarm will be issued, and the controller will also set the maintenance time, whichever comes first. Specially designated oil products should be used for oil products. Mixed oil use may cause oil gelling.
