Recently, Xinhua News Agency reporters conducted an exclusive interview with Fang Wenjun, deputy general manager of our group Zhejiang Kaishan Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. in the “Tribute to Overseas Strugglers on the Belt and Road” series. This editorial department now forwards the interview article “Chinese Operation and Maintenance Personnel of Kenya Geothermal Power Station” to express respect for all Kaishan colleagues who are fighting in various countries and construction projects overseas, and to express the most sincere blessings and greetings to all Kaishan domestic colleagues who are sent overseas.
In the past ten years, with the in-depth implementation of Kaishan’s globalization strategy, the team of employees sent overseas by our group has grown day by day. These domestic colleagues who have been sent abroad have experienced the inability to reunite with their families, faced unfamiliar and difficult working environments, and worked day and night with local employees with different cultural backgrounds. They work hard and are important participants in the successful implementation of Kaishan’s globalization strategy and important promoters of Kaishan’s continued business growth.

Kenya has rich geothermal resources and has stepped up geothermal development in recent years to accelerate energy transformation. Chinese companies have actively responded to the “Belt and Road” initiative and helped Kenya’s green energy industry develop with their own technological and cost advantages. The 35-megawatt geothermal power station, the Sosian Geothermal Power Station, built by Kaishan Group, started construction in 2021 and will be put into operation and supply electricity at the end of June 2023.
Fang Wenjun, 43, has participated in the construction of geothermal power station projects of Kaishan Group in many countries. In early 2022, Fang Wenjun came to Kenya and invested in the construction of the Sosian Geothermal Power Station project. After the power station was completed and put into operation, he continued to work in Kenya as an operation and maintenance manager. In his daily work, Fang Wenjun not only has to ensure the smooth operation of the power station, but also has to take apprentices and train local employees to enable them to master the technical operation essentials of geothermal power station work. “It’s a pleasure to work with the locals. Our team overcame various difficulties to ensure the smooth progress of the project and its operation and commissioning. My work is full of a sense of accomplishment.” He said proudly.
